Band 3 Medical Secretary - Pain Management

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a full time Medical Secretary to join our small friendly team at University Hospitals Birmingham. The Pain Management service is provided across three hospital sites. The successful candidate will cover secretarial work across all three hospital sites and will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in touch typing clinical correspondence at a minimum of 40 words per minute, have a good understanding of RTT, and possess proven experience in a medical administration environment. As the first point of contact for patients you will be required to manage phone calls of a sensitive nature with professionalism and compassion.
Main duties of the job
Touch typing clinical correspondence to a minimum speed of 40 word per minute
Actioning clinical correspondence, checking outcomes, tracking scans
Booking appointments
Calling patient to confirm their appointment as part of the DNA rota
Dealing with inbound and outbound telephone calls
Outcomes from the ward
Receiving and actioning emails
Manage partial booking waiting list
The roles may change with the needs of the service and therefore the successful candidate needs to be adaptable to change
