Are you currently working as a Renal Technologist or a Medical Engineer without renal experience, and looking for a new opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through continued professional development? If so, we welcome applications for this full-time, permanent Renal Technologist position at one of the UK's largest teaching hospitals, University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust.
You will join our Renal Technical Services team based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, benefiting from excellent training and development opportunities supported by robust supervision and appraisal systems. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist colleagues and to integrate within a variety of renal multidisciplinary teams, within a nationally recognised, progressive, and dynamic Renal Directorate.
Applicants should hold a Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject. Previous experience in Renal Engineering, Medical Engineering, or an electro-mechanical service environment would be desirable for appointment at Senior Band 6.
Where Band 6 is not appointable, candidates with less or no prior experience who possess the necessary qualifications and skills may be considered for appointment at Band 5, with full training provided.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of technical support for haemodialysis machines, water treatment systems, and associated medical equipment across hospital dialysis units, satellite units, and home haemodialysis patients within the West Midlands area. This will ensure ongoing compliance with national standards and guidelines.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in an on-call rota, providing a 24-hour, 365-day emergency on-call service.
The role involves regular travel, and candidates must be independently mobile. A full Category B driving licence is essential for to be considered.
