Job summary
We are looking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Research Nurse who can demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in research and leadership skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing Senior Research Nurse to lead a collaborative team across the core research team, delivering research in a variety of specialities including surgery, stroke, diabetes, sexual health, infectious disease, allergy & immunology. The post is based at Heartlands Hospital but works collaboratively with the core research team based at all sites across the trust. We have recently upgraded our clinical research facilities in the MIDRU building at Heartlands Hospital and this is an exciting opportunity to lead the growth of the portfolio of studies and further development of the team, working together with the clinical teams to embed research, increasing opportunities for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work together with the Senior Research Nurse and have responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the team, including budget control, governance, staff development and training. The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practise and standards of care. They will provide professional leadership within the core research team, providing direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will undertake and supervise research and teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for safe, effective clinical practice, managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget ensuring efficient and effective use of physical and human resources. They postholder will work collaboratively with Lead Research Nurses and Senior Research Nurses across the trust to seek and provide support and deliver compassionate leadership.

- *Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience working in clinical research
- *Registered Adult Nurse on Level 1 NMC register
- *Evidence of Mentorship/ leadership skills
- *Completion of a relevant post registration specialist course or experience in research and development.
- *ICH GCP training

- *Health care management / Leadership Qualification
- *Research training such as informed consent, safety reporting, audit & inspection

- *Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
