Job summary

In the infusion suite located on the Medical Day Hospital Unit at SH we provide specialist care to patients with a wide range of rheumatological diagnoses, many of whom require complex treatments and regular monitoring. Our unit offers a supportive, patient-centred environment where individuals receive high-quality care tailored to their clinical needs. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients feel safe, informed, and well supported throughout their treatment journey.

Main duties of the job

Your role within the infusion suite will be varied and dynamic. A key responsibility will be the safe and effective administration of infusions, ensuring that all treatments are delivered in accordance with clinical guidelines, local policies, and best practice standards. You will also have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate a broad range of clinical skills, including patient triage, cannulation and Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) administration where appropriate. Experience in cannulation is beneficial; however, if you are not yet competent, we welcome individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm, dexterity, and a proactive approach to learning new clinical skills. Full training and supervision will be provided.

Working within the infusion suite means becoming an integral part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate closely with nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to ensure seamless care delivery and positive patient outcomes. Effective communication, teamwork, and a compassionate approach to patient care are essential components of the role. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment, supporting service improvements, and participating in quality initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise in rheumatology nursing and infusion therapy within a supportive and forward-thinking clinical setting.
