Job summary
Solihull Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB), is looking for a 12-month fixed term locum consultant in Acute & General Medicine and HCOP to join the existing team. The medical team at Solihull Hospital provide a comprehensive service for general medical, orthogeriatric and elderly care patients.
The service wishes to recruit an additional consultant for a 12-month fixed term contract, who will work within an established consultant team supporting patients within our medical and community wards/services.
Services currently offered include:
*Inpatient care on 2 medical wards including step down of FNOF patients transferring post-surgery from our sister site, Heartlands Hospital and a third winter pressures ward 17 (when required)
*Frailty Virtual Ward, Frailty SDEC, Locality Hub, UCR
*Falls clinic
This post is also suitable for candidates working towards CESAR that will likely be achieved within the next 12 months. Main duties of the job
Prerequisite:
*Must be entered onto the GMC register.
*Must possess MRCP or equivalent.
*Must be on the Specialist Register in General Medicine or within 6 months of CCT in General Medicine.
Key Clinical Responsibilities:
*Care of inpatients
*Administrative duties related to patient care.
*Regular participation in speciality and multidisciplinary meetings.
*Regular participation in quality improvement, audit and research.
*Provision of cover for consultant colleagues' periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy.
*Weekend and bank holiday on-call commitments for general medicine
*Support of the speciality and wider hospital in emergencies
Indicative job plan*:
The post is 10 programmed activities The job plan will be tailored to a candidate's specialist interest, with opportunities available across acute and community settings.
*A detailed job plan will be agreed with the post holder on appointment.
