Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Dietitian

Job summary

Are you an experienced Diabetes Dietitian who has a passion for providing excellent care for people with Diabetes? This post will utilise your diabetes dietetic skills but give you the oppourtunity to further specialise by working in some of our specialist MDT clinics.

Our service provides a specialist service in Diabetes nutrition across Acute and Community settings, to provide support across the lifespan from antenatal care, young adults through to older adults and from those newly diagnosed to those living with diabetes for over 50 years. We support many specialist clinics including, neuropathy, joint renal/diabetes, and have a well established insulin pump service and form part of regional islet cell transplant clinic. We are a DAFNE centre so group education is a core part of our role.

This post is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward thinking large diabetes multidisciplinary team. You will be led by the Clinical Specialist Diabetes Dietitian across Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospital sites . You will work closely with 3 other Band 7 Specialist Diabetes Dietitians in your team and also be supported by our Band 6 dietitian and band 4 dietetic assistant post. You will part of an innovative Diabetes multidisciplinary team who highly value the dietetic role within the team. Continuous professional development is encouraged with the opportunity to be involved with research, audit and presenting at conferences

Main duties of the job

You will act as a source of expertise in diabetes specialist dietetic care for patients, their families, medical staff, other health care professionals.

You will have an integral role within our enthusiastic multidisciplinary team. Provision of training and education will be a key part of the role across Acute setting. You will provide structured DAFNE and VICTOR education for people with diabetes - training can be provided.

You will have a varied caseload of patients which will include undertaking comprehensive assessments and formulating individualised patient management plans.

You will also assess and educate individual patients in self-management principles including carbohydrate counting and provide effective CGM and diabetes data management platform analysis.

Excellent communication, clinical skills and the ability to be adaptable as well as work autonomously with other members of the team will be essential.

  • Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
  • A levels or equivalent qualification
  • Degree in dietetics or equivalent.
  • Current Registration with HCPC.

Desirable

  • Training in management/leadership.

  • Evidence of further postgraduate study in

  • Demonstration of significant experience in managing /leading others
