Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic Medical Secretary/Administrator to provide administrative support to our Lower GI, Upper GI and Sarcoma Surgery Teams. We are an extremely busy Department and provide treatment for patients with both malignant and benign conditions. We are looking to recruit a focussed and passionate candidate to our friendly Team, to assist in delivering excellent patient care and meeting Trust targets, whilst ensuring that data is accurate and up to date.
You will need to possess good time management and prioritisation skills, in order to meet Trust targets and tight deadlines. You will also need to possess excellent typing, IT and communication skills. Attention to detail is also essential.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are:
Assisting the Band 4 Medical Secretaries.
Managing, distributing and responding to Advice and Referral requests from GPs.
Audio typing of Clinical and Administrative Letters.
Requesting of Outpatient Clinic Rooms.
Submitting IT requests for Clinics to be set up.
Booking Outpatient appointments.
Monitoring unoutcomed Outpatient appointments.
Communicating with members of staff at all levels via email and telephone.
Communicating with patients via telephone.
Uploading of clinical letters to Clinical Portal.
The post holder will be working as part of a Team and may be asked to assist with other duties in times of need.
We are looking for a candidate that is friendly and a Team player. They will be able to work well under pressure, to meet Trust targets and tight deadlines. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent IT skills, and will be focussed on delivering excellent patient care.
