Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced nurse to join the Renal Transplantation team as a Band 6 Recipient Transplant Co-ordinator. Based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, providing specialist transplant care and education to patients. Speciliast training will be provided to the successful applicant.
Monitors tissue typing lists for our named centres and completes double checks to ensure everyone is active and suspended as per national and local lists.
Main duties of the job
Specialist training will be provided to work as part of the team:
Team -- manages team and on call rota on a day-to-day basis (off duty, appraisals, complaints etc).
* Implementing NHSBT Midlands collaboration between (Birmingham, Coventry and Oxford).
* Recipient lead for the HTA (inspection booked for August 2025).
* Manges all transplant referrals and organises surgical clinic rota for listing clinic's.
* Manages Stoke, New Cross, Worcester CKD Transplant waiting lists (attends 3 monthly face to face QA meetings for both centres).
* Implementation of pre-transplant TB IGRA/TB spot/Measles IgG testing across the west midlands network.
* Implementation of fast-track kidney offers.
* Implementation of clinical frailty scoring and testing in transplant assessment clinic's.
* On call for all Birmingham and BCH patients that are active on the transplant waiting list.
* Ward Education (drug education, post-transplant education, discharge planning, OPA booking, repatriation to OPA setting or referral centre).
* Transplant listing Clinic's.
* Manage listing MDT.
* Attends HIV MDT.
* Manage transplant list (activations, suspensions, holiday suspensions, removals).
* Live donor triage.
* Manges HTA A forms.
* Manges NHSBT hold bay.
* Presents at in house renal education sessions re: transplantation and various conferences/network meetings.
* Student nurse teaching and education -- Nicki used to lead on this.
