Job summary
We are looking for a conscientious administrator to support our district nursing team based out of Balsall Common Surgery (Solihull).
The successful candidate will have excellent people skills, ideally some experience of working in an NHS setting with some knowledge of medical terminology. You will be the first point of call for patients accessing district nurse services and so you will need to be calm under pressure, adaptable, supportive and have a kind caring nature.
You will work closely with the senior District Nurse who will rely on you to organise their time, support the wider DN team and be autonomous, able to manage your own workload and have excellent organisational skills.
You will be required to handle sensitive information at times and therefore communication is key and resilient. You will also need to be vigilant and escalate safeguarding concerns as appropriate.
You will have IT skills and preferably knowledge of Patient Administrative Systems.
Confidentiality is imperative and a good understanding of Data protection and Caldicott principles is essential although training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
*To schedule patients into clinics using the criteria set out by the Trust and the clinical speciality, identifying capacity shortfalls
*Processing patient appointment attendance using a variety of hospital information systems
*To undertake where required typing which may include touch type from audio and/or copy type from written documentation which may include letters, emails, reports and any other correspondence as required
*Create documents / spreadsheets / reports as required using IT Systems
*Use Trust systems to input electronic data as required
*To exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience when dealing with enquiries
*Receiving and dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate
*To maintain diaries as required
*Input and look up data on Trust IT systems in accordance with Trust policy
*Analyse and extract complex data sets from a number of different sources
*Arrange meetings and appointments as necessary
*To assist colleagues as directed by the Supervisor/Line Manager in times of pressure of work
*Co-operate in the introduction of new technology and new working practices to ensure the smooth running of the department
*Photocopying, Scanning and filing letters and documents as required
*Receive and open incoming post and take action as required
*Review and action electronic correspondence and disseminate appropriately
*Maintain confidentiality at all time in accordance with Caldicott Guidelines and Data Protection Act
