Band 3 Therapy Support Worker - Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Job summary
The role of a therapy support worker is to support the delivery of Pulmonary rehabilitation to patients within the acute and community settings across Birmingham and Solihull.
The role will support a range of professions, covering predominately Physiotherapists who work as part of the Outpatient Respiratory Team.
The Therapy Support Worker will work under the supervision of Registered Therapists and will be responsible for an agreed list of duties.
The trust is committed to providing a 7 day service and therefore, should the service provision expands, the post holder will be expected to support the extended hours.
Being a car driver is essential for this post
Main duties of the job
Non-clinical
*To have PR Oceano diaries planned so slots are available for walk tests.
*To ensure walk tests slots are filled.
*Input outcomes to NRAP from initial walk test to discharge. Input walks onto database and NRAP.
*Ensure up to date patient information leaflets are ordered as required and taken to all community venues.
*Contact patients via telephone on morning of appointments to confirm and support attendance.
*Assistance with admin tasks such as sending out patient letters, leaflets and questionnaires.
*Spreadsheet completion -- from walk test onwards. To include class completion, % MCID walk test, % meeting goal and patient feedback.
*Active participation in team meetings -- TSW, PR meetings.
*Booking interpreters for PR sessions
*Booking transport for patient to return home
*Set up classes prior to patients arriving
Clinical
*Carry out initial and discharge walk assessments including questionnaires discussing patients as appropriate with Band 6/7 and MDT. Complete review of reg flags on arrival.
*Check patient observations and assist with patient questionnaires as required.
*Clean equipment following assessments and classes, highlight any issues identified with equipment to B6/7 staff. Complete equipment checklist once monthly within the first week of the month.
*Perform ISWT as per exercise SOP once competencies signed off.
*Monitor patients during assessments and classes, provide guidance on safety and pacing, highlight and concerns to senior staff.
