Would you like to work in one of the largest critical care units in Europe? We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and highly skilled dietitian with relevant experience to join our growing team of critical care specialists at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The post holder will be supported by the existing band 7 dietitians to deliver highly specialist dietetic care to a range of critical care patients including those undergoing liver transplant or gastro surgery. Other areas of critical illness covered by our team include HPB, major trauma, cardiac and neurology. Ours is a patient-facing service delivering high quality inpatient care as part of the multidisciplinary team and this could be your chance to join our team in an exciting new role.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have strong post-qualification experience working in an acute environment to deliver dietetic care to patients requiring oral and enteral nutrition support. The post holder will need to assimilate large amounts of complex information and will use this to apply sound clinical reasoning skills to effectively problem solve and optimise nutritional care for critical care patients.
This is a busy and fast-paced environment. The post demands excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of the team. You will be expected to communicate and plan as part of a broad multidisciplinary team, attending relevant speciality meetings and ward rounds. Our team conducts regular clinical audits and quality improvement work which the post holder may be involved in or even have an opportunity to lead.
We are a large teaching hospital and as such the whole team takes part in student supervision and the supervision of preceptees, to support the growth of the professionals of the future. As part of the wider dietetic department, the post holder will also take part in departmental working groups and will deliver education sessions to a range of staff groups.
