Nutrition support nurse, Band 6
37.5 hours per week -- Full-time (Secondment/fixed term)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in this dynamic and forward-thinking specialist team. The Nutrition Nursing Service is looking for a committed, enthusiastic Nurse with an interest in artificial nutrition support to join their small, friendly team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, based at BHH & SH.
Are you an experienced, innovative, motivated, hardworking, and enthusiastic registered nurse with excellent communication skills who has a passion and drive for delivering patient-centred care and services? If so, this could be the role for you.
Your role will be to join the established Nutrition Nursing Service within Gastroenterology. This will involve providing specialist nursing advice to a cohort of patients, as inpatients and outpatients, referred for expert intervention, care and support within the services, being a point of contact for assessment, information and advice for the patient, family and carers, and all staff involved in the care of the patients. You will be expected to act as a role model, promote best practice, identify areas for improvement, and provide training to healthcare professionals, patients, and carers.

- * Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- * Portfolio of certified / accredited post registration professional development.
Desirable
- * Health Assessment post graduate qualification / willingness to work towards
- * Evidence of structured self-study or professional development taken in a nutrition-related subject
Experience

- * Post registration experience with evidence of knowledge and development for the associated area of specialist practice.
- * In depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for role, with willingness to undertake further training/ education to achieve agreed level of competence.
- * Knowledge of standards and policies associated with role.
- * Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment.
- * Demonstrable understanding of the national expectations / strategy /alerts around Nutritional services and can relate this to the role.
