Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join the pharmacy teams at UHB, and University of Birmingham as a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist -- General Medicine (Respiratory) and Teacher Practitioner. This split role will support the clinical service at UHB and will enable you to develop your clinical skills within general medicine, with a focus on Respiratory Medicine. In addition, you will provide a lead in the practice based clinical teaching and assessment of undergraduate pharmacy students within the trust but also delivering innovative teaching material to undergraduate and postgraduate students at Birmingham University.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist with excellent communication skills and strong work ethic to join our team. The role provides an opportunity to expand your expertise and skillset, to be involved in service development or research and to further develop your management and leadership skills with the support of established teams.

We welcome applications from pharmacists who have significant post registration experience in a hospital setting, and although desirable, previous Teacher Practitioner experience is not necessary and support and training will be provided to learn and deliver this role.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder's main responsibilities will include:

- To provide clinical input (at specialist level) to Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine as a whole.

- To ensure correct and safe prescribing, demonstrate expert clinical knowledge and provide a clinical pharmacy service of the highest standard.

- To provide a lead in the practice based clinical teaching and assessment of undergraduate pharmacy students from Birmingham University, within the trust.

- Teaching material to undergraduate and postgraduate students at Birmingham University with reference to hospital pharmaceutical practice but also including a range of other professional subject areas as appropriate e.g., law and ethics of medicines use.

- To provide risk management strategies and ensure compliance with medicines legislation and clinical governance
