Job summary
There is an opportunity available to join a forward thinking Logistics and Supply Chain team based in Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
This role is a key position within the operational profile of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
The Logistics Team is recruiting a Material Movement Operative in a very busy service yard area.
We have a position working 37.5 hours per week over 7 days, between 06:00-20:00.
The role will involve:
*Collecting, handling and management waste materials from Theatres and other wards and areas.
* Collecting, handling and management and clean/dirty Theatre instruments.
*Delivering stock, linen, bread and milk and post to designated areas on roll cages/pallets/trolleys.
*Delivering pharmacy to wards and departments.
* Assisting Theatres store: delivering and putting away stock, general housekeeping.
* Driving company 3.5t vehicle.
The opportunity is available across two sites, the successful applicant will work systematically to ensure just in time delivery to all operational areas, whilst striving to continuously improve the service offered by the Logistics and Supply Chain Team as a whole.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and time management skills. We are looking for a team player who is willing to adapt to different roles within the department at short notice where required.
Main duties of the job
To ensure Health and Safety, COSHH, Medicines Act, Misuse of Drugs Act and Regulations, Weight Restrictions and local operating procedures are followed at all times ensuring that adequate security of goods is maintained at all times.
To ensure daily delivery schedules/delivery point times are always met.
To operate mechanical aids in a responsible manner, carry out safety checks and ensuring that both equipment and working areas are safe, clean and tidy and reporting any deficiencies to the Logistics Management team.
To dispose of waste products according to the Trust's Waste Management Policy, transfer waste to the appropriate collection points according to procedures including appropriate handling of corrosive materials, cytotoxic, flammable substances and dealing with any spillages.
To take on an active role during emergencies including fire and all major emergencies and accompany emergency services to the problem area and assist as requested.
To wear uniform and ID badge with Trust policy and procedure and comply with Infection Control Policy.
To observe a clean, neat and tidy appearance at all times adhering to the Trusts and Departmental Uniform policies.
