We're looking for a passionate and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our dynamic Cancer and Aseptic Services team at UHB. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care in oncology, haematology and aseptic services.
The Pharmacy Cancer Services Division at UHB provides world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology including BMT and CAR-T, delivered by a team of pharmacy specialists.
At the heart of Cancer Services, ensuring safe, effective, and timely delivery of SACT, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise treatment pathways, contribute to clinical governance, and support service development. Pharmacists are integrated into all aspects of the service including ward and day unit pharmacy and several pharmacists led clinics as well as the aseptic preparation of licensed and unlicensed products including innovative products that are part of clinical trials.
Experience of working in this field is desirable but not essential and full training will be provided.
Applications would be welcomed from band 6 pharmacists, who will undertake a STEP 6 to 7 programme in Cancer Services.
There is an expectation that there will be some cross site working across all UHB sites.
Main duties of the job
To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties on the Haematology and Oncology wards and day units, ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities including clinical verification of SACT prescriptions are undertaken.
To support the Aseptic Unit in maintaining an excellent patient centred service compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice
To ensure that through the provision of pharmacy services and advice to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals, there is safe and effective use of medicines
To assist in providing a specialist pharmaceutical service to specialist tertiary services including the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols, and medicines usage information
To provide leadership and directorate/service support roles
To support more junior pharmacists in the department
