We have opening within our pharmacy trials team at University Hospitals Birmingham (covering our Heartlands, Good Hope, Solihull sites) to lead on our trial portfolio working closely within our Pharmacy Trials Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacy technician to ensure the review, smooth set up and running of our trials. You will have knowledge of managing cancer trials and working with pharmacy aseptic services to deliver trials. You will have a close working relationship with the research teams, R&D and trial sponsors so good communication and negotiating skills are essential.
For candidates with no trials experience but have other relevant skills and knowledge for the role, this post may also be offered as a progressional role. The successful candidate would commence at Band 5 and, upon completion of an individualised development plan, progress to your role as a Senior Pharmacy Technician, Band 6.
You will have access to learning, development and training opportunities to allow you to acquire the skills and knowledge to manage a service and deliver the best possible pharmacy trials service for our patients and service users.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- be responsible for the smooth day-to-day management of the trials pharmacy service from our dedicated trials pharmacy providing a safe, efficient and timely service to our service users
- have a keen eye for detail and have the technical knowledge of medicines management to review trial documents to allow successful review, set up and delivery of our investigational medicinal products
- have the ability to work autonomously and within a team with excellent communication skills
- manage their time effectively and be able to act as a team leader, provide clear direction and motivate others within the team.
