An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our excellent dynamic orthotics team
The role will involve working autonomously as the lead Orthotist providing a clinical specialist Orthotics service within
associated specialist clinics across the sites and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and management decisions for patients who are referred from both in-patient and outpatient settings.

This may include implementing and delivering education and training to cross professional groups. To develop and maintain key working relationships across professional boundaries with Consultant and nursing teams who are associated with the Orthotics service.
Main duties of the job
To work autonomously as the lead Orthotist providing a clinical specialist Orthotics service within associated specialist clinics across the sites but predominantly the HGS sites (working in collaboration with the Orthotics lead at QEHB) and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and management decisions for patients who are referred. To be responsible for ensuring clinical effectiveness across the Orthotics service clinic by utilising evaluation and research skills.
To provide strong clinical leadership in the provision of an effective, high quality, Orthotics Service for patients. To lead and support audit and research projects to evaluate service delivery. To be responsible for the education, training and development of orthotics staff across the OPD clinic section and the wards. To facilitate patient flow and respond to urgent priorities.
To regularly review clinical practice delivery considering new models of care and clinical transformation programmes within UHBFT. To identify new ways of working, including the advancement of extended clinical skills in this post and others. To work with medical, nursing, AHP and other healthcare colleagues across the clinical specialty within UHBFT and outside of the Trust to optimise patient management.
