Band 6 Cancer Manager

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 cancer managers to work within the cancer services department at University Hospitals Birmingham.

The roles are fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave/secondment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of patient pathway co-ordinators & support co-ordinators for a number of cancer sites within the department. Ensuring MDT meetings are supported, tracking of cancer patients is completed to meet internal KPI's and day to day line management duties are essential to this role.

Excellent leadership skills are essential, the post-holder will be responsible for supporting and implementing processes to improve the cancer patient pathways, data recording and ultimately delivering the Trust ambitions of achieving national cancer targets.

The role is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a hybrid model of site-base/home working will be considered following a successful 3-month induction period.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective running and service delivery of the Cancer Services department. They will develop, implement and monitor effective processes for the tracking and escalation of cancer patients.

The post holder will take upon responsibility for ensuring the Trust Cancer MDTs receive effective and high-quality support, including cover for MDT meetings and robust data collection.

There will be expectation to provide leadership and direct line management to a designated group of Cancer Pathway Coordinators and Cancer Pathway Support Coordinators, and will be responsible for supporting the training and development of the wider team

The post holder will also be expected to build working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the department/organisation.

Experience of managing a team and working in a cancer delivery role is essential.
