Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Reginal Tropical Medicine and Infection Unit at Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham, for a compassionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurse . We are a 47 bedded unit with dedicated and supportive staff that have an interest and passion in Tropical Medicine and Infection.

We are extremely passionate about getting it right for patients and their families and in order to achieve this we are looking to employ enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurses. Ward 28 is a busy and dynamic ward specialising in Infectious Diseases. Our team take care of patients with complex infections acquired in the community and healthcare settings. We have expertise in the management of resistant tuberculosis, complex HIV, viral hepatitis, orthopaedic bone & joint infections and infections acquired during travel to tropical regions. This exciting role will offer passionate Band 5 Nurses a platform to develop their skills and knowledge in the area of Infectious Diseases.

You should be committed and passionate about providing a high standard of nursing care with a keen interest in achieving new skills. Main duties of the job

You will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team caring for patient and undertaking delegated tasks from the ward manager/ward sister with the opportunity to improve and expand on your clinical knowledge.

On Ward 28, there is a supportive, friendly team making staff feel valued and motivated. We put patients at the heart of all that we do and working collaboratively to deliver the very best for our patients.There is an excellent preceptorship programme designed to facilitate efficient development of competence, confidence and expertise. You must possess a caring, compassionate and positive manner and have excellent communication skills.
