Job summary

Postgraduate Medical Education Department is responsible for ensuring the delivery and quality management of education and training for 1800 resident doctors (doctors in training and locally employed doctors (Junior Specialist Doctors and Specialty Associate Specialists Doctors).

The department is responsible for developing, managing and delivering a range of high quality and cost effective medical educational activities as required by the General Medical Council, Health Education England and the Trust. Medical Education has a key role in ensuring the Trust achieves the highest clinical standards. High quality Medical Education supports patient safety, service delivery and the maintenance of up-to-date clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

Develop, organise, and lead induction programmes for all new doctors joining the Trust, ensuring full completion using information from Health Education England (HEE) and Medical Staffing.

Collaborate with the Deputy Head of Medical Education (Postgraduate), Managers, Clinical Tutors, and Teaching Fellows to plan and coordinate the Medical Education team during induction, maintaining service provision.

Monitor and record mandatory training completion, chase non-compliance, and report findings.

Maintain accurate attendance and induction records, providing reports as required. Assist with data collection related to Postgraduate Medical Education and support strategic planning for smooth delivery and continuous improvement of inductions.

Organise quarterly specialist inductions and bespoke Medical Education events, managing logistics and administration.

Provide general administrative support including handling enquiries and setting up teaching rooms.

Support the introduction of new technologies and practices.

Ensure adherence to protocols, identify risks, escalate issues, manage conflicting priorities, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Participate in team and service meetings across Trust sites and respond promptly to queries or problems.
