We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Specialist (either nurse or paramedic) to join our high-performing multidisciplinary cardiac team, delivering excellence across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cardiac services.

Based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital the post holder will play an integral role in the management of direct access ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients from the local ambulance service. Liaising with the ambulance service to accept, direct patients to treatment in line with national time standards.

The post holder will also take responsibility for the assessment of patients who attend the hospital with suspected cardiac conditions via the Accident and Emergency and Medical Admission units. Ensuring that identified cardiac patients have appropriate treatment and care started timely and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

As a Cardiac Specialist, you will:

*Deliver expert cardiac care and advice across a range of acute and elective settings.

*Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, cardiac nurses, physiologists, and rehabilitation staff.

*Support the development and implementation of patient-centred care pathways.

*Contribute to cardiac investigations, diagnostics, and monitoring, including ECG interpretation.

*Provide education to patients, families, and staff on cardiovascular health and lifestyle management.

*Take part in service audits, research initiatives, and clinical governance activities.

What We're Looking For

*Registered Healthcare Professional (e.g., NMC, HCPC) with experience in cardiology.

*Proven experience in acute care.

*Strong ECG interpretation and cardiac assessment skills.

. Health Assessment Course or equivalant.

*Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • *Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register (Field dependent upon role) OR Registered Paramedic on the HCPC Register
  • *Evidence of post registration CPD / Post registration qualification in (appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7
  • *Recognised mentorship course

Desirable

  • *To have or working towards a MSc/ Masters qualification
  • *To have or working towards advanced health assessment module -- where applicable to the role
  • *Independent and Supplementary Prescribing / willingness to undertake - where applicable to the role (to complete within 12 months of starting role or completion of health assessment course)

  • *Significant years post registration experience as a Clinical Specialist at B6 or above in defined or associated speciality Extensive experience of working autonomously at a specialist level

  • *Demonstrate expert knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality.
