Band 8a Community Midwifery Matron

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational community midwifery matron to lead our community midwifery services and support safe, personalised maternity care closer to home.

You will be a visible, compassionate leader with responsibility for the operational and professional leadership of our community midwifery teams, ensuring high standards of care and supporting the delivery of national maternity transformation priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape services, strengthen continuity of carer pathways and embed safety and quality improvements across the community setting.

Main duties of the job

Provide operational leadership to community teams, ensuring effective deployment of staff to meet service needs

Uphold clinical governance and safety standards, supporting staff to deliver safe, evidence-based midwifery care

Lead on continuity of carer and community base4d models of maternity care.

Monitor and improve staffing, skill mix and workforce planning, aligned to safe staffing standards

Act as a professional role model, fostering a culture of learning, accountability and compassionate care

Work closely with Head of Midwifery, obstetric colleagues, LMNS, and other maternity stakeholders to deliver national maternity safety action

  • *Registered Midwife with current live status on NMC register.
  • *Evidence of recent CPD.

Desirable

  • *Master's degree or working towards qualification.
  • *Recognised management qualifications.

Experience

  • *Significant experience of managing maternity and women's health services.
  • *Experience in the community work setting at Band 7.
  • *Evidence of significant multi -- disciplinary working.
  • *Proven experience of change management in clinical services.
  • *Extensive knowledge of national policies, standards and priorities.
