Job summary
This post holder will provide a training service to multi-disciplinary clinical professionals within the
wider Trust and local healthcare and higher education providers. Working under the direction of
Senior Educators, the post holder will develop, directly deliver and evaluate clinical and
procedural skills and simulation programmes across a range of skills
The post holder will design, develop and maintain robust lesson plans, training resources and
where required assessment tools and criteria. The post holder will also ensure standardisation of
clinical skills and simulation training provision across the wider trust
The post holder will provide support to existing trainers, educators and assessors ensuring a co-
ordinated and standardised approach to clinical education provision. Working in collaboration
with the wider team, the post holder will positively contribute to the development and expansion
of the service.
In order to meet the contractual service requirements, the post holder will be required to be
flexible to deliver the service in line with business needs.
The Trust's Clinical Skills & Simulation service supports a number of clinical sites. It may be
necessary therefore, arising from the needs of the service for you to work at any of the Trust's
sites
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical skills training in clinical skills suites across the Trust and when required, at local universities. Training provided should be delivered in line with relevant curriculums and responsive to changes to local and national policies. Provide immersive simulation-based education in simulation centres across the Trust.
Produce relevant and up to date pre-course reading material which should be reviewed at least annually, and which is reflective of current evidence-based practice. Teach using a variety of teaching techniques, methodologies and materials, to meet the training needs of the learners. Plan and meet the required learning needs of candidates who require remedial support, providing advice and feed back to the student and their clinical supervisors / line managers as appropriate. Provide constructive feedback to candidates throughout clinical skills and simulation- based education training programmes. Provide advice and information to both students and relevant Trust and university staff about the processes to be undertaken when the student is failing to achieve the required standards.
Use collated information on attendance and evidence of achieved competence to audit and review the success of undergraduate clinical skills training and assessment programmes. Ensure evaluation forms are completed at the end of each training session and that any resulting information relating to either the structure or delivery of teaching is acted upon where appropriate
