Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Podiatrist for a full time 12 month fixed term contract to join the Solihull Community Podiatry Team, part of a forward-thinking and supportive NHS service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for newly qualified or early-career podiatrists to develop clinical experience within a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality podiatric care across a range of community settings including clinics, domiciliary visits, and care homes. You will assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a variety of foot pathologies, working in accordance with local and national guidelines.
The role will involve working closely with other healthcare professionals to support patients with complex medical needs such as diabetes, vascular disease, and musculoskeletal conditions. As a Band 5 Podiatrist, you will be encouraged to participate in service development, ongoing training, and clinical supervision to support your professional growth.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Podiatrist within Solihull Community Podiatry Services, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a variety of community settings, including clinics, domiciliary visits, and care homes. Your duties will include the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a range of foot pathologies, with a particular focus on core podiatry, wound care, and high-risk foot management, including diabetic foot assessments and risk stratification. You will provide health education and promote self-care, offering tailored advice to patients and carers to support long-term foot health and independence. Effective communication and collaboration with GPs, nurses, physiotherapists, and other members of the wider and remote multidisciplinary team are key, as is maintaining accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and Trust standards. You will contribute to the development of the service through clinical governance activities, such as audits and service evaluations, and participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and mandatory training. Flexibility to work across different community sites and adapt to service needs is essential.
