Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Locally Employed Doctor (Higher) in Dermatology to join our well established, friendly and dynamic team. The post will be based entirely at Queen Elizabeth hospital site and would suit someone wishing to gain experience in Dermatology in preparation for application for Specialist training. A designated consultant supervisor/mentor will oversee your education and training development, and some support for those undertaking CESR may be possible based on requirements and stage of development.
The service is located within the main hospital site in a dedicated department. The department offers 10 clinic rooms, a dressings room, two theatres and a phototherapy unit. We offer a range of clinics led by both consultants and specialist nurses including the Regional Skin Lymphoma service, Joint skin oncology clinic, Tertiary Vulval clinic, Specialist Medical Dermatology and complex skin surgery including Mohs surgery. We also have a well established teledermatology service along with an advice and guidance service.
The post is full-time, 40 hour post but applicants wishing to work less than this will be considered. Pay will be as per the national LED pay scale with a commencing point based on your skills and experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be actively involved in clinical and translational research and with the help of the multi- disciplinary research team and will support the extensive clinical trials programme within the Clinical Research Facility. This will include:
1.Becoming an integral member of the cutaneous lymphoma research team and executing both clinical and translational research projects in cutaneous lymphoma.
2.Contributing to the provision of required medical support for patients participating in interventional and non-interventional clinical trials/studies.
3.Contribute to the ongoing development, efficiency and operational functioning of the research team.
4.Ensure that written informed consent is obtained from every study subject before any study related procedure/s are carried out, including sample and data collection in accordance with the Trust research governance arrangements and Medicines for Human Use
5.Provide support to the wider research team.
6.To contribute to the publication of research performed within the group and communicating the results to the wider public.

The appointee will work with 14 consultant dermatology colleagues, 5 residents, specialist nurses (biologics, skin lymphoma, skin cancer), a specialist Pharmacist, experienced health care assistants and scrub nurses, a team of medical secretaries and operational managers. As a SSMDT we work closely with plastic surgeons and medical photographers.
