An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Vulnerabilities team at University Hospitals Birmingham
Band 6 CNS Dementia
Full time 37.5 Monday to Friday (0800-1600) Across site working.
We are seeking an experienced Registered nurse to join the Vulnerabilities team with a passion for, and experience of providing and championing patient centred Dementia care. To work with and support people with Dementia and their families who have complex needs, providing specialist support, guidance, and practical solutions.
To support the implementation of the Trust Dementia Standards, to work collaboratively with the Clinical delivery groups and staff to meet the health needs of people with Dementia.
To support, co-ordinate and deliver education and training to staff, enabling them to better understand Dementia, its progression, behavioural changes, and communication, to ensure that care needs of people with Dementia are being met. This will include evaluation and audit of care, supporting practice development and quality improvements.
The post requires a flexible approach and requires the individual to work and travel across sites.

Main duties of the job
In partnership with members of the multidisciplinary team you will develop, implement, and evaluate seamless Dementia specialist service, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of clinical care for Dementia.
As a nursing expert you will demonstrate a high level of expertise for Dementia, acting as a role model providing advice, education and support to staff, patients their families and carers.
You will support clinical audit activity for Dementia, be responsible for contributing / leading the ongoing development of clinical practice, standards of care within Dementia including the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
You will be accountable for safe, effective clinical practice and working as part of a defined team and supporting team performance, ensuring efficient and effective use of physical and human resources. You will provide a range of educational and training packages for health care staff and patients
You will be required to work Trust wide/ across all sites, acting as a role model, sharing expertise across multi-disciplinary teams and work collaboratively. Therefore, you will need excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, you will need to be able to work as part of a team or on your own. You will need to be resilient to an ever-changing workload be able to prioritize and manage the workload, and ensure a high standard of clinical care is delivered to the patients under our care

- Significant post registration experience. with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for Dementia Care

- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
