Locally Employed Doctor (Standard) - Emergency Medicine HGS

Job summary

This ST1-2 level Locally Employed Doctor (LED) post is aimed at doctors who have completed Foundation Training or equivalent and wish to develop clinical skills in Emergency Medicine.We will actively support all clinicians to achieve competencies in the RCEM curriculum and completion of the MRCEM /FRCEM examinations.

Candidates applying for this post must have a minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience with a significant proportion of that in acute specialities and at least 6 months in emergency medicine (EM).

An educational supervisor will be allocated to each successful candidate from the consultant team who will help to identify learning needs, develop a personal development plan and provide guidance on career development. Regular meetings with their educational supervisors will be set up to ensure adequate progression.

The use of e-portfolio will aid documentation of progression. Regular consultant led teaching will be provided. There will also be opportunities to develop own personal interests.

Main duties of the job

Ensure mandatory training is completed and up to date

To comply with the guidance from the General Medical Council (GMC) on Good Medical

Practice

To ensure you have a valid GMC registration & Validation status

Clinical

Deliver high quality care to the patients presenting to the ED.

To manage patients admitted to the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU).

Ensure life support courses and qualifications are up to date and valid, including Advanced Life

Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or equivalent, Advanced Trauma Life Support or Equivalent.

Ensure safeguarding level 3 is completed and up to date.
