Band 4 Therapy Support Worker - Trauma and Orthopaedic

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Support Worker to join the Trauma & Orthopaedic (T&O) Therapy Team at Good Hope Hospital. The successful candidate will work on the wards and day case unit experiencing a caseload including (but not limited to) Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement, acute fracture, elective day surgery, ambulatory trauma, and a variety of medical conditions.

We are a team who prioritise learning and development. The successful candidate will receive training in the speciality area of T&O, and work towards completing their Band 4 competencies. They will have regular supervision, weekly in-service training opportunities, and year appraisal.

The interview process will include a face to face interview at Good Hope Hospital on Wednesday 27th August. TEAMs interviews are not being offered, so please consider this before application as there will not be any exceptions.

Main duties of the job

The role of a Band 4 Therapy Support Worker in T&O is to support the delivery of therapy services to patients on T&O wards, or in the day case unit post orthopaedic surgery.

The Therapy Support Worker will work under the supervision of registered therapists and will be responsible for completing a social history, transfer assessments, stairs assessments, conducting site visits, issuing exercises both independently and under the supervision of registered physiotherapists, and providing patient education (once competencies have been completed). The Therapy Support Worker will also be committed to supporting patient flow across the hospital by faciliating patients home safely.

The trust is committed to providing a 7-day service. The role is therefore on a 7-day working rota, which includes working weekends. The day case unit is open until 8pm Monday-Friday, so the role will also include extended hours working.

Qualifications

Essential

  • * Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths at grade C or above.
  • * Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English.
  • * Educated to A Level / NVQ 3/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g. NVQ 2 or similar vocational qualification PLUS experience working in a care setting)
