Job summary
The Homeward Centre is a 25 bedded Rehabilitation unit based at Good Hope Hospital, We provide rehabilitation in an inpatient setting,
helping patients regain strength and everyday skills such as walking or preparing meals following an illness. The overall aim is to maximise
our patients independence. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self motivated Health Care Assistant to join our team who has a passion to provide patient centred holistic care to older adults.
Main duties of the job
The post holder works as part of the ward/ department team under the supervision of
registered nurses and:
Participates in the delivery of patient centred care, maintaining a compassionate
and professional attitude at all times.
Contributes to the ward/department organisation.
Support registered nurses in the provision of caring and safe environment.
Where appropriate to area, Co-ordinate the work of Band 2 Health Care Assistances
when/if they are on duty.
Supervise and assist in the training of Band 2 Health Care Assistances and staff
undertaking work experience placements in health.
The post holder will demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake
specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures,
guidelines and policies. They will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they
have been trained and assessed as competent.

- Successful completion of Trust based
- numeracy & literacy test or provide
- evidence to confirm achievement of
- Maths/English qualifications at Level
- 2 or above.
- * Completion of a competency-based
- workbook or equivalent relevant
- experience to vocational qualification
- at Level 3 i.e. For level 3 this could
- include AS/ A levels, Access to higher
- Education Diploma in health care
- support, Apprenticeships, NVQ Level
- 3, BTEC national Diploma award or
- nationals.
- * Care Certificate or can demonstrate
- prior skills, knowledge and
- experience that meet the 15
- minimum standards described by
- Health Education England (HEE) Skills
- for Health.
- * Internationally educated applicants
