Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking individual to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology team as an Administrator on Ward 8 (previously Ward 2) at Heartlands Hospital, part of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a fantastic role for someone looking to demonstrate and develop their knowledge, skills, and administrative expertise within a dynamic and supportive clinical environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Ward Manager and wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operational and administrative efficiency.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work under pressure. You will need to demonstrate evidence of meeting all the essential criteria as outlined in the job description.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an organised and confident administrator to primarily support the Ward Manager with day-to-day administrative tasks. This includes managing electronic databases, cascading communications, and general admin duties. Strong IT, verbal, and written skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. A polite and professional phone manner, discretion, and confidentiality are key. Familiarity with NHS systems is desirable but not essential--full training and support will be provided by the Senior Sister and admin team.
