Band 2 Echocardiography Porter

Job summary
We require a porter Monday to Friday 08.30 - 17.00. The Cardiology Department base is in the out patient Treatment Centre at Good Hope Hospital. When need a friendly, confident person with good communication skills to work closely with our team, collecting patients from the wards and delivering them back after they have had their tests.
Tasks allocated by the echocardiography team/service lead either verbally or via communication device and / or telephone pager.
You will be required to collect and deliver all drugs, including controlled drugs as well as IV fluids to wards and departments in accordance with policy and procedures set by clinical governance, as and when necessary.

Main duties of the job
Hospital porters provide a varied and supportive role to clinical and non-clinical teams. This includes the movement of patients on beds, trolleys and wheelchairs. It also involves the movement of equipment, medication, medical gases, post, patient notes, patient meals, consumables, waste, samples and test results from one place to another; enabling care and services to continue.
Assist patients into wheelchairs and onto beds; ensuring their comfort in readiness for transport to a designated area.
Move patients by wheelchair or bed to and from cardiology department from various wards and departments. Transport medical equipment around the hospital.
Collect and deliver all drugs, including controlled drugs as well as IV fluids to wards and departments in accordance with policy and procedures set by clinical governance.
Deliver, collect and change all medical gases to and from the cardiology department as well as changing gas manifolds (Full training will be provided).
Respond to tasks allocated by the echocardiography team/service lead either verbally or via communication device and / or telephone pager.
Take an active role along with the cardiology team during emergencies including fire and all major emergencies.
