Job summary

We are looking for an administrator to join our community nursing admin team. You will be the first point of contact for all community patients within the Solihull and Birmingham area. Helping patients who are vulnerable access the best possible health care in the community. You will need to be kind, compassionate, organised, efficient, a good listener and have a keen eye for detail. You will be responsible for processing referrals. You will need to have good communication skills as you will liaising with patients, relatives, carers, care homes and other health professionals on a daily basis. You will need to be accurate in your documentation and message taking. You will need to have good communication skills both written and verbal. You will be joining a small team of 12 admin members but a nursing team of approximately 150 staff. We offer all staff the opportunity to develop their personal skills and to take advantage of training opportunities available to us at UHB, supporting your career progression and development.

The successful candidate will be required to cover 5 days out of 7, work 1 of 2 shifts ( 8-4 and 11-7) over a 7 day working week. Typical weekend cover is required 1 weekend in 3. Due to the nature of the shifts and the location at Friars Gate access to a car would be ideal.

Main Duties

A list of typical duties can be reviewed below:

Processing referrals from GP's, Hospitals, Care Homes, Patients and their relatives

Data Entry - inputting information in to System 1 and Civica and accurate response to emails

Relaying important information from patient to clinical staff

Answering calls and queries via the phone and redirecting as appropriate

Printing & Scanning

Tidying away deliveries and stock

Maintain training and skills

First point of contact for other health professionals

Relaying urgent information and escalating as appropriate so an ability to prioritise is important.
