Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent part-time post (18 hours/week) in the Burns and Plastics Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide comprehensive secretarial support within a busy, fast-paced environment. This role will involve working closely with our consultant body and senior medical secretaries to provide safe and effective management of our patients and their pathways.
The successful candidate will work directly with their assigned consultant(s) to provide support with booking outpatient appointments, inpatient admissions, partial booking waiting lists and general administrative duties. Ideally the candidate will need excellent organisational skills, the ability to multi-task, remain calm under day-to-day pressures with a flexible working approach to our service needs and objectives.

Main duties of the job
*To type clinic letters and reports from audio dictation.
*To book, reschedule and cancel appointments/clinics.
*To monitor waiting lists & clinic capacity.
*To produce accurate correspondence in a timely manner.
*To maintain & track results of patient investigations, prioritise & action according to clinical need with guidance from the medical team.
*To open post and action accordingly.
*Providing a first point of contact (telephone & email) for patients, colleagues and other health care professionals.
*Updating and inputting of patient data on systems and spreadsheets.
*Scanning documents as required to patient records.
*To be able to organise daily workload and prioritise tasks to meet timescales & deadlines.
*Completing necessary actions required from correspondence and any requests received.
