Radiotherapy at UHB is excited about this post, we've waited a long time to have the MRI installed, it's now in and currently being set up for clinical use. The scanner will have a massive impact on our offering within Radiotherapy, the benefits to our Brachytherapy service and wider department is huge.
We now need a therapeutic radiographer to lead the radiotherapy service within the MRI team. The successful applicant will have knowledge of the operational aspects of an MRI Scanner; however training will be offered, you will though be a Therapeutic Radiographer and have operated at a Senior level, which will have included pre-treatment.
You will be confident, highly motivated, forward thinking and have a passion for patient care as well as service and staff development. As a Team Leader you can expect 1:1 additional support from our Tech Leads, & SMT with programmes aimed at developing you to achieve your career aspirations.
You will be joining a team of circa 115 staff that deliver one of the highest percentages of IG-IMRT treatments in the U.K and treats a large number of SABR patients for all commissioned indications. Our breast patients are treated with SGRT, & DIBH is offered to all appropriate patients who have left sided breast cancer.We are one of two leading centres delivering radiotherapy for paediatrics in the Midlands that specialises in SGRT, intensity-modulated TBI& CSRT. And now we have an MRI Scanner.
Main duties of the job
You will be a highly experienced therapeutic radiographer, managing the pre-treatment area alongside diagnostic radiographers, leading a team to provide safe and accurate highly specialised MRI Scanning and radiotherapy treatment.
You will manage a clinical workload ensuring all procedures are delivered safely and correctly, maintaining high standards of technical and patient care. There is a requirement to work at an advanced level promoting best practice, giving expert advice, support and guidance to junior staff and the multidisciplinary team.
You will also provide operational input into the department and staff related matters as well as providing Mentoring & Coaching to support junior staff. In addition to the staff responsibilities, you will also take direct responsibility for your staff's 1:1's, appraisals and work programmes to support their development.
As the MRI Team Leader we will facilitate the time needed to maintain therapy radiographer competencies within a pre-treatment setting.
Working hours -- Due to the operating schedule of the MRI and the funding mechanism in place, the successful applicant will be expected to work 7.5hr days Monday to Friday, covering between 8:00am to 8:00pm. There will be an option to Job Share, but we will not offer compressed hours. There is a requirement to work occasional bank holidays and some occasional weekend.
