An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Adult Audiology Lead to join our dynamic team at UHB. We are looking for someone to take a leading role within the departmental quality agenda and clinical governance, as well as demonstrating a high level of clinical expertise within complex rehabilitation of patients within Audiology.
The post holder will deputise for the Audiology Clinical and Operational Lead supporting the paediatric team in their absence, provide direct support to the Audiology senior leadership team to enhance the development of routine and complex Audiology services at Heartlands, Good hope, and Solihull Hospitals. The post holder will have responsibility for leadership of clinical service areas, and they will have managerial responsibility for a defined group of Healthcare Scientists to include Clinical Scientists, Physiologists, Therapists and Support Staff within the field of Audiology.
Alongside the clinical and leadership responsibilities the postholder will have responsibility for leading quality, transformation, and governance projects within the Audiology Service. These projects will be aligned to the service strategy and will support the delivery of high-quality, safe clinical services, with a strong focus on the clinical governance, safeguarding and quality agendas.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic individual who has both clinical and leadership experience in the area of Adult Audiology.
To be a source of expertise, to identify, analyse, evaluate and problem solve to enable the development and delivery of individualised intervention and treatment programmes.
To provide a consultative role with relatives and staff providing advice, recommendations, support, training, and instruction as identified.
Lead the development of diagnostic and rehabilitation services in audiology including the development, and or updating of clinical guidelines, policy and procedure that relates to the specialism.
Under the direction of the Audiology senior management team, take responsibility for leading key areas of accreditation within the specialism ensuring the on-going development and implementation of a strong governance structure to improve clinical practice and standards of care.
Work to support the UHB Head of Audiology Services by participating in business planning and business case development to support increased resource requirements with associated directorate and divisional management teams.
To have overall responsibility for the adult audiology team with line management duties for senior members of the team.

Essential
- *M.Sc. Audiology or an M.Sc. in a related subject, or equivalent level of experience
- *B.Sc. in Audiology (or equivalent level).
- *Registered as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC whilst adhering to the code of conduct for Clinical Scientists OR Registration as Clinical Physiologist, with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or the Academy of Healthcare Science
- *Evidence of relevant accredited post-graduate training and education within profession.
Desirable
- *Recognised qualification in management or leadership at master's level.
- *Recognised qualification in project management.
- *BSL qualification.
Experience

- *Significant experience as a clinical leader including direct clinical supervision and line management of staff.
- *Extensive experience of complex audiology rehabilitation
- *Extensive experience of severe to profound hearing loss.
