Band 3 Phlebotomist

Job summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced phlebotomists to join our team at Good Hope Hospital, part of UHB NHS Foundation Trust.
This skilled role requires the ability to work under pressure, proficiency with keyboards, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must have at least 12 months of recent phlebotomy experience in an acute hospital setting and will complete local training and competency assessments upon appointment.
You must work well in a team without direct supervision, maintain confidentiality, and handle patients with sensitivity. Senior phlebotomists will assist in training, assessing, and supervising junior staff.
Main duties of the job
*Perform venepuncture for in patient wards as part of the phlebotomy service.
*Allocation of staff when assigned to be the team leader on the given day as per rota basis.
*Prioritising wards that need the service as needed.
*Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour and ensure effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, carers and relatives.
*Act as a professional role model to other members of the team.
*Use paper and electronic systems to retrieve and record patient information in line with Trust documentation standards and operational systems.
*Apply the principles of information governance and patient confidentiality to all aspects of your role.
*Obtain verbal consent from the patient before any phlebotomy is undertaken, where this is not given report this to a registered nurse.
*Accept constructive feedback.
*Escalated concerns regarding colleagues through the appropriate route, feedback, give constructive feedback to Band 2 Health Care Assistants under your supervision.
*Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.
