Band 3 Ward Service Coordinator

Job summary
The post holder will work as an integral part of the very busy clinical ward and to be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The main elements of the role are to ensure that there is a seamless approach to the provision of non-clinical services; ensuring the appropriate delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks, to meet individual patients' needs, as determined by the area manager in accordance with NHS National Standards 2004 and ensuring core cleaning services are upheld
Main duties of the job
This is a very busy ward keeping stock levels to a safe limit liaising with our stores person/ward administrator for the ordering of stock
*When required greet patients and visitors to the area being mindful for good relationships between patients, staff and relatives
*Communicate effectively with other team members.
*Work as part of the ward team to ensure the continual provision of the highest possible standards of service.
*Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communication
*To co-ordinate the work of the Domestic Team, and direct them as appropriate
*Co-ordinate patient's menus for all meals and ensure patients have access to information about the out of hours menu information and communicate with the Catering Department.
*Ensure that all dietary requirements for patients are met and recorded
*To liaise with maintenance staff to ensure that equipment is in working order
*Handle individual patient requests as they arise
*Organise and update notice boards as appropriate
*Ensure written patient information is in date and given to patients when appropriate.
Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour and ensure effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients carers and relatives.
