This vacancy is within our Paediatric Assessment Units at Heartlands and Good Hope, this is a fast-paced environment which sees a large number of children requiring a wide range of hospital treatment, this is a great learning environment and will give you an opportunity to gain a breadth of knowledge in the management of general paediatric patients.
Our Paediatric service is ran by a friendly, dynamic, talented team of professionals; we deliver high quality, compassionate care to the local community and beyond. We strive to provide a positive patient experience in a safe environment, and we actively promote a family centred approach in the delivery of care.
Shift patterns are 24-hour, 7 day a week, flexible working requirements will be considered, and we have substantive and temporary vacancies.
Main duties of the job
As a band 5 Paediatric Nurse working in Heartlands & Good Hope Hospital, you will join an established multi-disciplinary team who provide care to Infants, children and young people who are patients at UHB. We promote a family centred care approach to nursing and collaborate closely with parents, carers and their children when planning and delivering care.
As a staff nurse you will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for delivering safe, compassionate, person centred, evidence-based nursing care that respects and maintains dignity and human rights. You will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, planning and implementing programmes of care, delivering treatment and evaluating these programmes of care without direct supervision. You will work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and adhere to the NMC Code at all times.
The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees and agencies, service users, their carer's and families.
We expect all of our nurses to promote a positive attitude and motivate staff members to deliver compassionate care whilst developing them-selves professionally.

- *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
Experience

- *Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months )
- *Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
- *Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others
- *Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
- *Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
- *Understanding of preceptorship and work based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge
- *Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
- *Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
