Band 2 Paediatric Emergency Department Health Care Assistant

Job summary

We are seeking Health Care Assistants to come and join our amazing team. We are looking for kind, highly motivated individuals with a passion to provide excellent patient centred care to those attending Paediatric Emergency Department. This post provides the opportunity to learn and develop additional clinical skills alongside an experienced and established nursing team. The Emergency Department can be fast paced, you will be required to cover areas such as triage and cubicles to enable flow through the department. The individual will need to be motivated and act as a role model delivering high standards of care, supporting new initiatives and continuously striving to achieve an outstanding Emergency department.

Main duties of the job

The department Provides 24-hour care through a variety of shift patterns. The individual will work closely with the team to carry out hourly observations and identifying PEWS score and escalating to senior nurse, and ED doctors. The individual will have exposure alongside the nursing team to patient's that are alerted in by ambulance and taken into the Resuscitation room to stabilise patient. The individual will provide support, education and teaching to parents when the opportunity arises. To work in all areas within or associated with emergency care as directed by the nurse co-ordinator for ED.
