Band 7 Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist - Myeloma/Amyloid

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology nurse to join the Clinical Nurse Specialist team at UHB. The postholder will sit within the Myeloma/Amyloid team, supported by another Band 7 Myeloma CNS and the wider Haematology CNS team, Haematology Lead Nurse, Haematology Matron and Haematology Consultant team. They will also work closely with associated specialities. Applicants will have experience working at Band 6 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and have completed a Health Assessment module. The post holder will need to have expert knowledge of chemotherapy and its side-effects, and indepth knowledge of Myeloma. They will be supported to become a non-medical prescriber, if not already competent. UHB holds the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme Award and is a Regional Amyloid Centre. The Haematology department has a large, active research team and also delivers allografts, autografts and CAR T/cellular therapies, with an in-house apheresis service.

Main duties of the job

*Provide holistic inpatient and outpatient support to Myeloma patients from diagnosis throughout the treatment pathway

*Nurse led Myeloma clinics

*Nurse led MGUS clinics

*Facilitating patient support groups

*Provide holistic inpatient and outpatient support to Amyloid patients within Birmingham and referred across the West Midlands

*The CNS will support the consultant Myeloma clinic

*Development of a cross-speciality Amyloidosis clinic and a nurse led Amyloidosis clinic

*Attend the national Amyloid MDT

*Liaison with CNS teams in referring centres

*Training and education for internal staff and external teams in referring centres

*This role may entail cross-site working at Heartlands and Solihull
