We have a new exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 8a Speech and Language Therapist to join our large, friendly and innovative therapy team acting as a Clinical Dysphagia Specialist Speech and Language Therapist supporting the adult services at Heartlands and Good Hope Hospital.

This post involves provision of advanced specialist Speech and Language Therapy input at expert practitioner level within the field of dysphagia including having operational and strategic responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would lead the Speech and Language Therapy service at HGS across our ASU and ESD teams acting at an expert practitioner level providing clinical input within an acute stroke caseload and working closely with the MDT with reference to maintaining safety and the quality of care for patients.

You would be supporting the Clinical Team Lead and Professional lead by co-ordinating the team of speech and language therapists and supporting staff in delivering a clinically prioritised and safe service. The candidate would be actively engaged in the service delivery including business continuity, service planning, clinical governance and service innovation. You should have extensive post graduate experience in the field of stroke and rehabilitation supporting your advanced skills in dysphagia and communication management. Training in VF/FEES/Tracheostomy skills though desirable would be supported and encouraged by the service as part of your development

  • *Health Professions Council -- Licence to Practice
  • *Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • *Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within own speciality, e.g. post registration training, management competencies and evidence of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • *Postgraduate advanced accredited dysphagia training and / or relevant level of experience within the field
