Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Booking Coordinators (Outpatient and an Inpatient) to join the Cardiology Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who relishes a challenge and is keen to use their own initiative.
The successful candidates will be required to work to a high standard of accuracy, have excellent organisational skills and be able to demonstrate initiative in planning their own workload.
The successful post holders should have a proactive and friendly attitude and be able to demonstrate previous administrative experience. The candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to meet the main duties of the role as identified in the job description.
The successful candidates will have a good standard of English and Maths and will ideally possess medical terminology. The candidates should also be able to demonstrate confidence in using MS Office as well as other IT systems.
Both the posts are full-time (37.5 hours) and a permanent position.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities-Inpatient Booking Coordinator
*To schedule patients into the cath labs using the criteria set out by the Trust and the clinical speciality, identifying capacity shortfalls
*Processing patient appointment / procedure attendance using a variety of hospital information systems
*Notify patients of new or changes to appointments or procedure dates
*Managing inpatient waiting lists using a variety of systems
*Input and look up data on Trust IT systems in accordance with Trust policy
*Analyse and extract complex data sets from a number of different sources
*To provide a point of contact for service users
*Provide patients with non-clinical advice and information on a range of issues including appointment queries
Key Responsibilities-Outpatient Booking Coordinator
*To schedule patients into clinics using the criteria set out by the Trust and the clinical speciality, identifying capacity shortfalls
*Processing patient appointment attendance using a variety of hospital information systems
*Receiving and dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate
*Notify patients of new or changes to appointments
*Managing GP, internal and tertiary referrals
*Managing outpatient waiting lists using a variety of systems
*To provide a point of contact for service users
*Provide patients with non-clinical advice and information on a range of issues including appointment queries
