Band 7 Senior Haematology and Oncology Research Nurse

Job summary

The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Band 7 Senior Research Nurse and have responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the Haematology & Oncology Research team, including budget control, governance, staff development and training. The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practice and standards of care. They will provide professional leadership within the research team and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional clinical knowledge and recent, relevant research experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical & research practice, audit, and teaching, to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for safe, effective clinical practice, research delivery, managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget, liaison with research governance and the multi-disciplinary team throughout set up, delivery and close out of research studies.

The post holder will focus on maintaining and further developing our existing portfolio of research studies, working with the current Band 7 and well established team. The post will be based at Heartlands Hospital but include oversight of research delivery at both Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital, providing research opportunities for a wide range of patients in our communities.

We are looking for a candidate with enthusiasm and passion for research alongside significant experience of research delivery and high quality patient care. Ideally the post holder will have a vision for further growth of the team and portfolio as well as a drive to continuously improve patient experience and care through research.
