Band 2 Materials Management Assistant

Job summary
To assist with the operation of progressive Materials Management systems, including product location identity, requisitioning, receipt and temporary storage of goods and their subsequent distribution to end users.
Main duties of the job
1. Work with materials management operatives and operations supervisor to identify a progressive and cost effective solution to the materials management requirements of the areas identified within project plans.
2. Identify current product lines, their supply routes and establish the current usage and stock turn of the products and complete area stocktakes.
3. Identify each products current stock location and where appropriate agree any new or changes to locations.
4. Prepare product locations, label with necessary information, complete the movement of existing stock to new locations.
5. Identify new stock levels and re-order levels for all products.
6. Establish new stock value, surplus stocks and their value, expired stock's and their value.
7. Order standard and non-standard products using the latest PDA computer technology.
8. Order, receive, inspect, check all goods delivered to the area, report any discrepancies and to arrange returns where necessary.
9. Check and put away stock in locations, ensuring stock rotation. Ensure prompt return of empty cages to the RDP.
10. Carry out a review of the effectiveness of the implemented Materials Management procedure, to include stock levels, stock locations, re-order levels and frequency of ordering.
11. Identify, report savings achieved through Materials Management.
12. Undertake all duties to the required standards of cleanliness and security, observing fire precautions and the Health & Safety Act.
