Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham is host to one of the UK's largest and comprehensive Audiology services operating across four acute Hospitals and multiple sites within the community. As an accredited training centre, and leading research site within the West Midlands, we are recognised for excellence and provide the unique opportunity for individuals to develop and work in a service alongside colleagues recognised nationally and internationally as experts within the field of Audiology and Otology.

Our Hearing Implant service and Audiology Services are expanding rapidly. To support this progression, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to operate as a Clinical Specialist within Hearing Implants and Audiology. Under the strategic direction of the Consultant Clinical Scientist/Head of Audiology services and working as a direct deputy to the Clinical leads for Hearing Implants and Audiology, the post holder will primarily focus on providing senior clinical input to the service whilst also providing a level of managerial support and leadership required to maintain quality and facilitate the development of our services and teams.

Main duties of the job

This role is a highly specialist clinical role with additional managerial responsibilities operating within Hearing Implants and Audiology. This role is suited to qualified and registered Healthcare Scientists in the field of Audiology. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate strong evidence of personal, staff and service development. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of clinical excellence and demonstrate strong leadership qualities. We are seeking individuals who can evidence the ambition, drive and desire to progress and develop in their role. Essential

  • *B.Sc. in Audiology (or equivalent level).
  • *M.Sc. Audiology or an M.Sc. in a related subject (i.e. management, audiological rehabilitation, or equivalent level of experience)
  • *Registered as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC whilst adhering to the code of conduct for Clinical Scientists OR Registration as Clinical Physiologist, with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or the Academy of Healthcare Science
  • *Evidence of relevant accredited post-graduate training and education within profession.

Desirable

  • *Recognised post graduate qualification in management or leadership at master's level.
