An exciting opportunity has become available for a full-time post to work in the Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
We would welcome applicants with a range of administrative and secretarial knowledge, experience and communication skills, highly proficient in all Microsoft packages.
The postholder will need to have experience in taking minutes and must be capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
The applicant must be able to work under pressure and have excellent time management skills to meet competing priorities.
Hours are 37.5 hours per week, to cover 07:00 -18:00, with reasonable notice to work outside of core hours, including weekends/bank holidays, for which time in lieu will be given.
The role demands excellent prioritisation skills, problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach.
You will need to be resilient, flexible to changing daily priorities and remain calm under pressure. In return you will receive an excellent support network, training opportunities and a real chance to excel within a highly motivated team.
You will need to provide secretarial support to consultants and their teams.
The postholder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients, relatives and carers, undertaking work under the direction of the Medical Secretary Supervisor.
Main duties of the job
It is essential that the post holder exercises initiative and judgement using acquired skills and knowledge, always maintaining confidentiality.
The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for service users and provides a confidential general admin and medical secretarial service for the Consultant body.
The postholder will need to effectively utilise a range of ED Clinical IT Systems in addition to having knowledge and strong application skills of various Microsoft Office Software programmes including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, with ability to manipulate data tables and spreadsheets required for reports and support rota activities.
