Job summary
The post holder will work across CT and MRI departments, delivering high-quality imaging for acute and outpatient services. They will support and advise Radiographers, working closely with Lead and Modality Radiographers, and oversee the daily management of a designated scanning area.
Key responsibilities include acquiring full competence in cross-sectional imaging, performing IV cannulation and point-of-care testing, maintaining accurate imaging records, and participating in audits and research. The role requires shift work, including nights and weekends, as part of a 24-hour service.
The post holder will also supervise and train Radiographers, students, and support staff, ensuring compliance with mandatory training and ongoing professional development
Main duties of the job
Develop expertise in CT/MRI scanning aligned with personal development plans.
Adhere to Local Rules and IR(ME)R legislation, ensuring safe, effective use of imaging equipment.
Stay current with Trust-mandated training: manual handling, resuscitation (adult/paediatric), fire safety, security, and data protection.
Support Quality Assurance by identifying and reporting inconsistencies.
Follow Health and Safety regulations, promoting a safe work environment.
Contribute to a QA-driven service, ensuring IPEM77 compliance and high standards.
Maintain professionalism under the Radiographer Code of Conduct.
Ensure equipment functions correctly; report faults and take necessary actions.
Document procedures and radiation doses accurately in the Radiology Information System.
Engage in CPD, foster a learning culture, and support service improvement.
Participate in clinical audits under the Imaging Clinical Audit Programme.
Ensure proper training and documentation for CT/MRI equipment use.
Promptly report Health and Safety issues and act accordingly.
Comply with Trust and Directorate policies and procedures.
Contribute to quality improvement and radiographer development programmes.
Conduct risk assessments and escalate critical incidents as needed.
