Job summary
The Senior Educator -- Clinical Skills and Simulation NMAHPs using acquired specialist knowledge and skills, will oversee and provide the day-to-day management for the development and maintenance of Clinical skills training and multilevel simulation-based education across the Trust for all non-medical disciplines.
The post holder will construct, lead, oversee and deliver training and assessment in a range of core technical and non-technical skills, including the delivery of immersive simulation- based education across the UHB simulation centres. Collaborative working with key educators within the Trust is essential in this role.
Working autonomously, the post holder will ensure a coordinated approach that will both recognise and minimise the associated risks in relation to the use of various core clinical skills, complying with local and national guidelines and protocol; thus, ensuring patient safety.
The post holder will design, develop and maintain robust lesson plans, training resources and where required assessment tools and criteria. The post holder will also ensure standardisation of clinical skills and simulation training provision across the wider trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a robust contact point for staff by:
*Educating and informing staff regarding health and safety issues relating to Clinical Skills and Simulation training and use of equipment.
*Contributing to the Clinical Governance agenda by acting as a change agent in order to identify, promote and introduce best practice.
*Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust exercising specialist knowledge in the field of core clinical skills and simulation-based education.
*Promoting education, and the personal accountability of practitioners to improve professional knowledge and competence.
*Taking responsibility for ensuring that education provided meets Core standards and Clinical Governance criteria
*Act as a resource for clinical supervisors within the clinical areas to ensure that they are up to date with current policy and procedures in specified clinical skills.
*Lead on developing training outlines, session plans, learning objectives, competency statements and visual aids, ensuring a consistent approach to training is implemented and delivered across the Trust to all commissioners & users of the service.
*Lead a coordinated approach to clinical skills and simulation development and delivery, ensuring that all educational needs are met and that clinical skills and simulation teams are clear on delivery objectives.
