Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic HCPC registered Senior Radiographer at University Hospitals Birmingham. The successful candidate will be joining out friendly imaging team, expanding their skillset and support the delivery of the DR service to a high standard with high quality imaging and provide a positive patient experience.

This vacancy is for positions at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital.

The successful candidate will be expected to support and advise junior colleagues and trainees whilst rotating throughout DR. They will also be responsible for the organisation and daily management of the department as well as assisting the Clinical Team Leaders.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work within the wider multi-disciplinary team, within core working hours and during out of hours.

The DR team is support by Clinical Educator Radiographers who work across the departments to support with training and improved quality of imaging.

The Imaging Department encourages and supports career progression for all staff and has a fully integrated four-tier structure.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of a designated area of the Imaging department, for example ED or Inpatients. Where they will be expected to clinically prioritise the workload, in addition to supporting the training and development of junior staff, student radiographers and other learners.

The successful candidate will support the clinical team leader in daily activities and deputise in their absence.

Other important tasks include ensuring all QA of the equipment is carried out, vetting and prioritisation of both inpatients and outpatient referrals, participating in departmental audits as well as ensuring that all equipment faults are reported and actioned in a timely manner.

The candidate will also need excellent communication skills to build relationships and liaise with other departments within the hospital as well as external visitors such as RRPPS and company engineers.

Effective communication with clinical team leader radiographers and modality lead radiographer is imperative for the service to run efficiently.

As part of the Band 6 role, the successful candidate will also participate in the 24/7 out of hours rota and complete sickness reviews and appraisals for junior colleagues.
