Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the team on the Haematology & Oncology Day Unit at Good Hope Hospital. The post holder is responsible for the toxicity assessment pre administration of systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT) and supportive treatments. The nurse led unit provides a specialist Oncology and Haematology nursing service to patients, families and carers by demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and principles of the safe delivery of SACT and supportive products within the day unit setting. Experience in this area is desired, but not essential as specialist education and training will be provided. The unit at GHH is open Monday-Friday 08.00-18.00hours, closed bank holidays. Informal visits welcomed prior to application

Main duties of the job

Assessing patients prior to administering all routes of anti-cancer treatment, and liaising with the MDT to resolve any issues.

Have good cannulation skills, and competent at accessing CVAD's and knowing when to escalate any concerns.

Competent or undertake competency to perform venesections, blood transfusions or bisphosphonate infusions.
